• The 2003 Medicare Modernization Act that was enacted to provide prescription drug benefits to Medicare Beneficiaries requires medication therapy management (MTM) services for elderly patients with multiple chronic diseases or drug therapies to improve their therapeutic outcomes. The Institute's mission is to advance pharmacy practice in West Virginia by providing pharmacists with the necessary training and resources to deliver medication management services and other specialized pharmaceutical care services to patients, and to evaluate the impact of these services on drug outcomes.


• This project has been funded by donation from Mr. Gates Wigner, an alumus of the School of Pharmacy to fund the Wigner Institute for Advanved Pharmacy Education and Research.
