• When fully implemented the EPIC/Merlin
clinical data system will allow researchers to
capture data elements that will assist with
research projects.

• This will allow an achievement of
sophistication in clinical trials significantly
beyond what is available today. This system
will aid in the development of genomic and
bioinformatics research in the future because
the health record will have genetic information
available to scientists.
